No Room to Boast

1 Cor. 1:18-31

God designed it so that the word of the cross, the gospel, is folly to the unsaved, but to the saved is it the very power of God! God has made foolish the wisdom of the world by choosing the foolish things, the low and despised things, and even the things that are not to reveal His power and to show that man has no room to boast.
  • God chose preaching as His method, a method which would seem foolish to the world.
  • This preaching is about Christ who is a stumbling-block to the Jews and folly to the Gentiles.
  • The foolishness of God is wiser than men
  • The weakness of God is stronger than men.
  • Not many believers are wise [according to worldly standards], powerful, or of noble birth.
  • God chose those who are weak in the world to shame the strong.
  • God chose those who are low and despised in the world to bring to nothing that things that are.
God's choices completely counter dict the world, its methods, its decision making, its excesses, and its powerful ones. Whatever the world is, God is not! But He did all this for a reason. By exposing the world for what it really is, His glory and wisdom triumphs! To those He calls, He gives faith to see the truth in what He is and says, and to know they have nothing in themselves worthy of boasting. They will see and know that Christ Jesus is wisdom from God, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Jesus is all and in all. He is our only way to salvation and to the Father. Actually our very understanding of the foolishness of this world is God given as is our faith to believe. We are totally powerless and helpless before God calls us to His kingdom. Jesus is the One who transferred us from the domain of darkness to His glorious kingdom. We need Jesus! So that as it is written, Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. My boast is in Jesus alone!

Father,
Thank You for choosing the weak and undesirables of the world to be Yours. Thank You that I was one of those. Thank You for Jesus and His cross.
In Jesus name,
Amen
