Sovereign God

Is. 14:24
The Lord of Hosts has sworn. As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand.

What a succinct statement of the sovereignty of God! In any situation, whether God is making a nation a possession of the hedgehog, sweeping it with the broom of destruction or having compassion on the house of Jacob. God's will, purpose, and plan cannot be thwarted. For the Lord of hosts has purposed and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?

In I Thess. 2, Paul and Timothy recall suffering and being shamefully treated at Philippi. Did this stop their proclamation of the gospel? No, they had boldness in God to declare the gospel to the Thessalonians in the midst of much conflict. For their appeal did not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive, but just as they had been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. God's will and purpose was the most important thing. They worked night and day...for you know like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God. God's plan and purpose had to go forward. Human difficulties would not hinder them from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved. They were convinced of the Lord's purpose in their life. Who could annul it? No one! Another example is Rev. 17 where God had put it into their hearts to carry out His purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal  power to the beast until the words of the God are fulfilled. Could there be a situation more dire? But here in the midst of war with the forces of evil, the beast and the prostitute, God's purpose is being accomplished. With God it's a win/win situation. His will is accomplished in any and in all situations. I need not worry about this world, but trust in God for His purposes always come to pass.

Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord commanded it. Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come?

Father,
Build my faith and trust in You. Bring to my mind Your sovereignty in all situations.
In Jesus name,
Amen
