Worthy of All Praise

Rev. 4:11
Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.

The throne room in heaven is amazing! It says that the One who sits on the throne had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of emerald. Even though it does not specifically describe God, the description reveals luminescence, light unbridled, perhaps even blinding out specific details, on the other hand, perhaps the description is the result of a lack of adequate human words to describe God. Whatever the case, God is described with richness, splendor, and majesty.  Around His throne were 24 thrones occupied by 24 elders, clothed in white garments and with golden crowns on their heads. Why 24? Could it be the 12 tribes and the 12 apostles, thus joining the OT and the NT. Also these elders are wearing white garments which were mentioned in the letters to the churches. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumbles and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne there was, as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. Wow! All throughout the Bible God spoke through nature, and once again that is evidenced, or maybe that is the closest thing that human words can use to describe His voice. Such majesty and splendor! And yet in the midst of lightning and thunder, the sea is as peaceful as glass, crystal glass.

Around the throne were 4 living creatures, each having 6 wings with eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come! Just think, their eyes encompass and define their existence, an existence that includes only God. So wherever and whenever they look, they see only the holiness of God. How cool! Whenever these creatures give glory to God, the 24 elders fall down before Him and worship Him casting their crowns before Him and saying, Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created. Such worship as this is all centered on the sovereignty of God. When all is said and done, the sovereignty of God is the one, abiding Truth. What He has done in creation, salvation, and redemption all exist because of His will and purpose.

Father,
Thank You for being my sovereign God.Teach me to worship You as You deserve. Prepare me for my place in heaven with You.
In Jesus name,
Amen
