Contrasting Gifts

Rom. 5:17
For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

The eternal state of man hinges on one of two men, in the case of the natural man, Adam, and in the case of the spiritual man, Jesus Christ. When Adam sinned, he brought death to all those who would follow. This was not just his personal family but all mankind for all the years to follow until the end of the age. Similarly, when Jesus Christ paid the just penalty for the sin of all mankind, sins in the past, the present, and the future, He conquered sin and death and brought grace and forgiveness.

What  contrasting states are seen in Adam and Jesus! Adam's sin led to condemnation for all men,  but Jesus' righteousness brought justification and life for all men. [And that includes me!] Adam's disobedience made all men sinners, but Jesus' obedience made many righteous. The law [which was to deal with this sin] only increased sin, but where sin increased grace  [which is Jesus Christ] abounded all the more. Though sin reigned in death, grace reigned through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. How glorious is that!

Father,
I thank You for sending Jesus to earth to cancel the debt of sin, to transform condemnation into justification and life, to give us grace, a grace that reigns through righteousness giving all who believer eternal life. You have changed my identity and my future. Thank You so much,
In Jesus name,
Amen
