Change of Course

Eph. 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Before Christ, where was I? What was my motivation for all that I did? I know it was a life of bondage and futility, one that I was helpless to change.
  • dead in trespasses and sins in which you once walked
  • following the course of this world
  • following the price of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience
  • among who we all once lived in the passions of our flesh
  • carrying out the desires of the body, and the mind,
  • and were by nature children of wrath like the rest of mankind.

What could change my course? How would this great gulf be bridged?  But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses made us alive...It was His great love that sent His Son to take my place so that I might live in Him. In Him, I am...
  • made alive together with Christ
  • by grace I have been saved
  • and raised me up with Him,
  • and seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus
  • so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward me in Christ Jesus.
  • for by grace I have been saved through faith.
  • And this is not my own doing, it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
  • For I am His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that I should walk in them.
Now my entire course of life is transformed from the flesh to the spirit, from the prince of the power of the air to the God of all creation, from my own works to works He has prepared for me, from slavery and bondage to freedom and untold riches of grace. Wow!!! It is all so personal. Jesus and the Father did this for me because I was chosen beforehand to walk in the works that He has laid out for me to do. I bless God for such a future!

Father,
Help me to be in constant communion with You so that I will be aware at every moment what these good works are. Guide me into all Your paths. I praise You for Your great love and for Your Son who bridged the gulf taking me from one domain and planting me securely in another.
In His precious name,
Amen
