Mk. 13:26
And then you will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
The signs of the coming age are nearer each day. Many will come in the name of Jesus but for the purpose of leading others astray. There will be wars and rumors of war, and earthquakes and famines. All of nature will be signaling this cataclysmic event. What is the believer's response? Be on guard. But before all this falls into place, the gospel must be proclaimed to all nations. Believers will be taken to trial by family members and will be hated by all for His name's sake. But all this is prelude to the bigger picture, that is when the abomination of desolation stands where he ought not to be. When that happens, run and hide. The persecution will be like no other. Unless God had shortened the days for the sake of His elect, no one would survive. Again, more false prophets and christs will arise. Once again, what should believers do, be on guard. In those days, after the tribulation, the sun will not shine and the stars will drop from the heavens when the Son of Man will come in great glory in clouds with great power. Learn this lesson: Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Concerning that hour, no one knows except for the Father. Once more, what is the believer's response: Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come...And what I say to you, I say to all, Stay awake. The message is clear. Believers are to stay awake and be on guard. Guard the state of their souls. Be prepared to meet Him. Don't think that there is plenty of time to serve the Lord later. Don't put off what needs to be done today. Serving and loving Jesus is a now experience not a future plan. There is no better time than the present!
Father,
Keep me ever alert and watchful. Teach me how to be on guard, to discern evil and deception, and to grow in grace and knowledge. Spread Your gospel to all those who have never heard.
In His name,
Amen
