Lust

II Sam. 13

Amnon lusted after his beautiful, half sister so much that it was a torment to him, but his friend, Jonadab had a plan. He crafted a phony situation so that Tamar would be in his room alone and unprotected. With no one there to interfere, he raped her. After the rape he found that he hated her with a very great hatred. In fact, the hatred was so great that it obliterated any lust or love he felt for her. He sent her away with no regard for her life or her future. Consequently, she lived a desolate woman with no future.

What an example of lust! When a person wants something so bad that they get it deceitfully, the outcome is never good. Not only is the fruit of lust bitter and disgusting, but it is always short-lived. Lust is only good in the wanting not in the possessing.

Father,
Keep my eyes open to my fleshly desires so that they don't cloud my spiritual vision. Make my priorities and desires Yours.
In Jesus name,
Amen
