I Chron. 16:29
"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth."
David's heart was full of praise. He had experienced great victories defeating the Philistines, but in the matter of moving the Ark, he had failed. The end result: Uzzah was dead. David's heart was afraid when he saw the great power of the Lord. But later, he gathered the priests and moved the Ark as God had directed. With rejoicing, music and dancing, the Ark was finally brought to Jerusalem. His heart was overjoyed, and he broke forth in a song of praise.
"O give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples...Sing to Him...Glory in His name...Seek His presence continually...He is the Lord our God..Declare His glory among the nations...He is to be held in awe above all gods...Splendor and majesty are before Him...Strength and joy are in His place...Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness...O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever."
Such praise as this comes from a heart that knows God intimately and has seen God work mighty deeds. David had experienced his deliverance and His discipline, but whatever he received, he knew that it was from the hand of God Almighty. That was enough for David! Is my heart bursting forth in songs of praise? Am I remembering all God has done in my life? Am I declaring Him before the nations?
Father,
Thank You for Your glorious deeds in my life and for Your amazing grace during the dark times. Teach me to praise You before all those You place in my life.
In Jesus name,
Amen
