I Kings 13:26
"It is the man of God who disobeyed the word of the Lord; therefore the Lord has given him to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, according to the word that the Lord spoke to him."
Whether it was Jeroboam with his evil idolatry or the man of God sent to cry out against him, disobedience is not tolerated. The man of God did not accept Jeroboam's invitation to come and eat with him. He obeyed and began his way home, but when the old prophet of God spoke to him, he caved. Even though the old prophet lied to him, it made no difference because the man of God was told not to eat or drink with anyone but to go home a different way. The instruction was clear! Because he disobeyed, a swift and certain judgment came to him. A lion met him on the road and killed him. Even though the man of God met an untimely death, what he had prophesied would come true, but sadly, the heart of Jeroboam was unchanged.
Father,
Help me to be obedient to Your word. Give me a discerning ear to see only Your truth as the guide for my life.
