All the Day

Ps. 119:97
"Oh how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day."

The psalmist's thought life is controlled by the word of God. It is constantly in his mind as he navigates his day. Why? Because he intensely loves the word.  It is not just something he reads on a daily basis and then checks off, nor is it something that guides his life from a distance. He doesn't just read it or listen to it at corporate worship, but it is the basis of his private life. He totally delights in it!

This great love has produced great effects in his life. First, it makes him wiser than his enemies which protects his life and helps him discern their motives and their methods. Secondly, it gives him more understanding than his teachers enlarging his world view through the eyes of God. And finally it gives him more understanding than the aged which is the practical savvy that comes from the school of hard knocks. The word does all this. It provides all that the psalmist needs. It still does all this!! Even though many believers know all this, they still don't have the word in their minds all the day. Instead the world's system often controls their minds. What do I think about all the day? Do I love the word? Am I trying to balance the Word and the world keeping hold of both?

Father,
Thank You for Your words and the great wisdom that they bring. Draw me ever closer into them so that my mind and heart will be filled with them.
In Jesus name,
Amen
