Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Rev. 19:6-16
What graphic images! I can only imagine how John felt seeing all these things. First, he hears the voice of a great multitude which sounds like the roar of many waters and the sound of mighty peals of thunder. This voice was not only complete power, but it also extinguished all other sounds. The content could only be one thing: the Lord our God reigns, Rejoice, the marriage of the Lamb is now! The bride is clothed with fine linen, bright and pure. Amazingly, this linen was made from the righteous deeds of the saints! How cool is that! But it is not anything that the saints did in themselves, it was what they did through the grace of God.

Then Jesus enters! Heaven opens and in comes a white horse with one sitting on it called Faithful and True. His mission: to judge and make war. This is definitely not a peaceful scene but one of power. The heavy is coming down! His eyes are like a flame of fire (devouring and consuming), His head has many diadems (all kingdoms are His), and He has a name that no one knows by Himself. His robed is dipped in blood (from His sacrifice, the cost of His life), and the name by which He is called is the Word of God!!! Whoa!! The armies of heaven are all arrayed in white linen between Him. All is pure and sinless, without blemish. His purpose: to strike down the nations with the sword from His mouth and to rule with a rod of iron. This battle's outcome is predetermined. The nations stand no chance! He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and thigh is written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

What a scene! What power and glory the Word of God has!

Father,
I am in awe as I read this narrative and realize the great power that You have, power for life and power for destruction. Thank You for choosing me to be Your saint, to stand with You, and to be a part of the marriage feast of the Lamb. Thank You for clothing me in Your grace-filled white linen.
In the Name of the Lamb,
Amen
